The J. Appleseed Food Garden Company helps you grow food by providing food garden systems that produce an abundance of safe, delicious organic fruits and vegetables easily right out your door.
Custom food garden.
From individual custom planters and small family size gardens to multi-family and large community gardens, our goal is to provide individuals, families, and communities with the tools and guidance needed for food production that they know is safe, organic and local.
Our raised bed garden systems solve many of the problems that confront gardeners in Northern California. Poor soil conditions are resolved with a custom blend of soils and nutrients specifically formulated for food gardens. Garden pests such as gophers, voles, moles and deer can’t penetrate the galvanized wire cloth and fencing defenses. Our irrigation design applications and raised beds that have aquatic safe pond liner on the interior walls save water while giving plants maximum benefit from the surrounding soils. Our hoop house ready designs let you quickly and simply erect season extenders to lengthen the growing season as well as protect sun sensitive plants from our scorching summer heat.

Ease of use is a priority in a J. Appleseed Food Garden. Our individual raised beds as well as the multiple bed systems used in larger gardens keep you off your knees and save your back from endless bending. You can comfortably sit and reach the entire bed, making planting and harvest a breeze. Any weeding becomes effortless and is minimized with our custom soils.

The designs we create emphasize all the practical aspects and functions you want in a garden in a form that invites you in to share in the abundance of nature.
To help ensure your success as a gardener we provide you with garden guides that are specifically designed with your local conditions, the square footage of your garden, and what you want to grow in mind. From the number and variety of seeds in a bed to companion planting, planting and harvest dates, maintenance requirements and soil conditions we give you all the help you need. You can also calculate your food savings with our yield charts based on average production and the current local produce prices.
If you require additional gardening services such as regular maintenance, or just a hand every now and then, we put you in contact with gardeners in your area with whom we network to give you additional professional assistance.
Aside from wonderful produce, a J. Appleseed Food Garden gives you many benefits that you sometimes never notice. Colors and scents come and go as the seasons change. Butterflies and bees float gently through the air in a dance of life.
